Koyré is one of the greatest historians of science in the twentieth century, and most high reputed founder of the School of History of Scientific Thought. He made an important contribution to the development of the history of science.Koyré's achievements still play an important role today in understanding the key topics of science, such as the relationship of internal history and external history, and the issue of the scientific revolution. Thus, the correct interpretation of Koyré is a key to explore the above issues. We have already pay attention to Koyré,whose most famous works of the history of science have been translated and published. And there are some preliminary studies also, but the comprehensive and rigorous study on Koyré does not appear yet.I realize that there are actually three kinds of Koyré:The first is the real Koyré in the history;the second is the one in his works;the third is the one being understood and criticized.Of course, our research belongs to the third, but it should base on the first and the second.Otherwise,we would just make up an illusory Koyré and was far away from Koyré's true ideas. The above understandings inspired the idea of this paper. In the light of the historical context and the texts, this paper tries to find the true Koyré,and the essence of Koyré's philosophy of science.I am aware of this preliminary research very well, just treat it as a pilot study for a more ambitious goal.Logically, this paper is divided into three parts. The first part is the introduction, with the analysis of the history and current situation of the domestic and foreign studies on Koyré;after that, there are the positioning of this study, the research perspectives and methods employed in this paper. The second part consists of the first, the second and the third chapters,in which I'm trying to probe the historical and intellectual contexts of Koyré,in order to positioning Koyré's thoughts appropriately.Chapter ? is Koyré's life and his thoughts in general, taking an overview of his activities and thoughts throughout his life.Chapters? and ?,respectively, explore the French and Germany contexts,in which we find some important intellectual links between Koyré and other thinkers. The third part is the fourth chapter,on the basis of the investigation of previous three chapters,I make further analysis and synthesis on the foundation of Koyré's philosophy of science,in order to obtain the overall and penetrating understanding of Koyré's thoughts. There are three appendixes available, including Koyré's resume, chronology and bibliography which are useful tools for Koyré studies.
