This thesis gives an empirical analysis on the pay system reform of Beijing Gas Group Company. It proposes that the reform of pay system should take the unique feature of public utilities into consideration, which aims to improve the economical profit under the premise of achieving greater social and environmental benefits.As for the reform of interior pay distribution system, this thesis makes some recommendations. The company has to change the values and attitudes of the employees before the change of the existing pay system and institutional reform is also badly needed. Both the managers and employees should have a clear mind that when the company is operating under the market economy, they need to rely on themselves to survive and develop in the future. The labor relationship, pay policies, and welfare are totally different from the period when all these were determined by the government under the planned economy. It is now the corporation that takes these burdens, and remuneration and welfare are now largely related to the profit the company makes.This thesis emphasizes that there is still a long way to go before these contradictions and problems are solved, which demonstrates the urgency and necessity of the reform on wage system.
