It was five years toward the end of 2006 since China had become a member of WTO on December 11, 2001. Now China's market has been full open to the outside and become a part of the global market. Chinese enterprises have to compete face to face with the foreign multinational enterprises both at home and abroad. It is inevitable that Chinese enterprises go overseas to seek international market and international resources. Increasing Chinese enterprises went overseas for merger and acquisition in succession to try for a rapid development in the last couple of years. But most of them failed for various reasons such as trade barriers and regulatory restrictions from the host governments. How should the Chinese enterprises go overseas? Which way can they realize the dream of"go outside"and then"go upward"in the international status? That is the major focus of this thesis. In the thesis, the author strives to broadly absorb the merits from numerous theories and researches which the author traces the roots of them and follows the up-to-the-minute trends, summarizes the theory elements of multinational management and strategy alliances, uses management theories and tools to analysis on the international competition and abstracts new opinions and ideas, examines and compares four main internationalization ways to conclude that the multinational alliance is the most suitable and important way for Chinese enterprises to craft and execute"go overseas"strategy at the moment. While"go outside"is not the ultimate goal, it is more important for Chinese enterprises to realize"go upwards"in the international status through"go outside". And therefore, the author puts forward some suggestions and solutions in subsequence for Chinese overseas enterprises to utilize multinational alliances, which include, among other things, the build-up of competition advantages through strategy alliances on the basis of core and distinctive competences, the choice of reliable alliance associates, and adoption of localization management model, and emphasis of cross-cultural management. In order to help Chinese enterprises to establish their core and distinctive competences so as to obtain sustainable competitive advantages, a research model has been designed in this thesis aimed at explaining how the Chinese enterprises could create the sustained competitive advantages through integration and synchronization of the advantages built on their own core and distinctive competences and learned from the multinational alliances under the dynamic and uncertainty surroundings.
