Teaching instruments (equipments) are objects and teaching apparatus used in the teaching to present didactical thinking. The well known educator– Professor JIANG Nan-Xiang had ever said that teaching material development, teaching manpower development and teaching instruments constitute three foundation stones for our educational undertaking. It is obviously that teaching instruments are indispensable for education. First, teaching instruments are physical basis and technical insurance for education; second, teaching instruments are substantial carrier for didactical thinking and contents; third, teaching instruments are effective means to change study style and increase scientific attainments; fourth, teaching instruments are important for a good all-around making education.Based on my rich experiences, the article starts from the development course of teaching instrumentation, describes the functionalities, categories, and characteristics of teaching instrumentation industry in China, introduces current status of basic education, vocational education, advanced education, and network based education, analyses the main problems as insufficient budgets, unfair competing environment, comparatively low quality of personnel in the circle, separate hardware and software development, etc. and praises proposes to solve the problems as a reference for decision making in the field.
