When opening outwards gradually in finance in our country, the overseas banks enter our money market, so the domestic commercial banks are confronted with competition never occurring before. The domestic commercial banks can compete with the outers not only in management but also in technology. On the other hand, our banks have their own advantages—enormous customers and rich operation data. Unfortunately, the potential resource has not in good use up to now.Data mining in commercial banks is that through seeking operation regularity of banks from vast data and refining key information required in management, the banks could analyze their own operation and the industry state so as to direct their stratagy and operation management and to convert the information to profits in the end. In foreign banks, data mining has applied in marketing management, customer relationship management and credit risk management, and so on. While in our commercial banks, data mining has still been in exploring. So, data mining applied subject aiming at improving decision-making capability and market competition in our commercial banks has been a new hot point of information construction in our commercial banks currently.Based on the situation, the article introduces a method combining theory research, data experiment and investigating on the spot to research data mining applying problem in our commercial banks. First, based on our commercial banks'own characters, the successful application in overseas banks, and the document resource in existence, the author goes deep into research and concludes roundly for the material application of data mining in our commercial banks. Second, on the sample of the four years'data of fixed deposit in one branch of one commercial bank, by using data mining, obtain valuable law and cause hiding in data roundly and deeply, draw some important conclusion, and bring out some pertinent suggestion of management.
