Since the middle 1980s, the theorists, educationalists and enterprise managers in ourcountry have begun to introduce the US human resource management system massively,reaching the peak in the middle-later 1990s. The enthusiasm continues from then on, makingit both a hot spot of importing western management to China, as well as a highlight of thefourth global management translation in the past century. However, some problems occurredin the management practice and academic research, such as copying and applying US humanresource management system mechanically and blindly. From the viewpoint of academicresearch, similar to other societal and the behavioral sciences, a question also has beencontinuously puzzling the management academe, namely, how to realize the human resourcemanagement Chinization or indigenization? Or how to construct the human resourcemanagement with Chinese style? On the one hand, the management is the outcome of culture.A human resource management separated from its native society and culture can not fine afoothold in theory, is imperfect in institution, and is difficult to carry through from start tofinish in practice. Therefore, in respect of the enormous difference between China andAmerica in culture, it is an extremely urgent theme to seek the philosophy, system and methodof human resource management under the Chinese native cultural background. On the otherhand, for even those human resource management knowledge going beyond the regional andthe cultural limitations, it is more advantageous to build a management system coincidingwith our own psychology and behavior by using the familiar Chinese concepts and logicsspreading down in the past millenniums, so as to instruct our own human resourcemanagement practice. Therefore, the US human resource management knowledge and ourtraditional personnel management knowledge are equally important for reference.However, there is still a long way to establish the human resource management system with Chinese style or to instruct our own human resource management practice, because any learning and reference will become wood without a root or water without a source if we neglect the understanding, summarizing and induction of the present human resource management.
