With the adjusting of structure of the world economy and the developing of globalization, trade in services has been one part of the world trade which grows in the highest speed. Being a member of the developing countries, China is affected greatly by the changes in the world service market. Nevertheless, because of the low level of the domestic trade in services, China still has less competitive advantages in the world service market.This dissertation studies the factors affect the development of the Chinese trade in services, analyzes the trends of the international trade in services and makes some recommendations for the trade in services in China. The first part is about concepts and theories. The general definitions and characteristics of international trade in services are summarized. In order to push the investigations go further, theories relate to trade in services is introduced in this part; the second part is about the trends of the international trade in services. With the rules of "General Agreement on Trade in Services", the development of international trade in services reflects some trends which may affect the trade in services in China in some sense; the third part investigates the situation of Chinese service market. It summaries the problems and the factors restrict the development of trade in services in China through a theoretical framework of competitive advantage; after the logical analysis, the last part tries to find out the possible benefits and challenges brought to trade in services in China by the effects of the trends of international trade in services, and makes own recommendations from several aspects including the optimization of the service industry structure,the government behavior and some other aspects.
