China banking corporations surely will undertake the process of standardization with theinternationalization of the finance industry, and building the information platform on theData Warehouse is almost necessaries of all finance corporations.After the reformation of Chinese commercial bank for more than 20 years, product andservice have become more homogeneous. The indiscrimination strategy is the universalprocedure of banking market and market management is extensive. The marketmanagement must change attention to customer from product and change the strategy tosegmentation from indiscrimination so as to enhance the marketing validity and theenterprise competitive ability fundamentally. Therefore it is very important to set upcustomer segmentation for the commercial bank and it affects the development ofenterprise for long time. To subdivide the market accurately, implement different servicebased on the different community's demand has already become to the major tendency andinevitably choose for the banking industry to adapt the market competition and enhance thecompetitive advantage.Data warehouse is the leading technology in the international scope, and it has been thenew growth area and hotspot, but in China, it is in the period of experiment and discussion.I participated in the enterprise data warehouse project that NCR Corporationimplemented for a certain bank of China and aimed at the issue hereinbefore. First, itsimply showed the status in quo of the native banking corporations, analyzed theinevitability of using the Decision Support System based on the Data Warehousetechnology, and introduced the basic concept of Data Warehouse.Second, the dissertation discussed how to achieve the customer segmentation in bankingcorporations. According to the steps of building a Data Warehouse, it studied the process ofData Warehouse modeling and creating. Then, it studied how to achieve the customersegmentation in detail: according to the demand of front application, building Data Marts.Then, create Cubes based on Data Marts. At last, it used the OLAP tool, Microsoft AnalysisServices, implementing the customer segmentation.Finally, the dissertation summarized and concluded the method of how financecorporations can get their customer segmentation, and gave a prospect of the improving andextending of the system.
