Performance appraisal is the one of the central process in the enterprise management, it is just the engine of the enterprise's development. And the strategy development of the enterprise will not achieve without the well performance appraisal. In recent years, a new performance appraisal approach called 360-degree performance appraisal became much more popular with lots of domestic and foreign companies. As there are also disadvantages, we have to perfect it and establish the 360-degree performance appraisal system.And now, enterprises pay more attention to the performance according to the competitive situation. They have no choice but to establish the valid performance appraisal system. As the 360-degree performance appraisal is a general and fair-and-square appraisal approach, it will well serve the enterprise with the credible information, though it will increase the cost and bring the new requirements to the operation procedure. Obviously, appraisal itself is not the final purpose, it is just a approach to achieve a much higher performance level.In this essay, the 360-degree performance appraisals approach is introduced firstly with analyzing the advantages and disadvantage. Secondly, the indexes of appraisal and the appraisal standard are studied, also a supporting system is pointed out which is very important to the company's performance appraisal. Furthermore, according to the optimization theories about multi-object decision, the weights of factors of the indexes of performance appraisals and raters are derived respectively. And then, some suggestions are given to the feedback and interview in order to improve the appraisal system. Lastly, actuality of ABC Port Machinery Company is analyzed with how to use the 360-degree performance appraisal, and a numerical example is given to illustrate the process of optimization approach.We have to establish the 360-degree performance appraisal according to the company's own situation which will serve the company well, and especially we shall realize that the optimization approach is very important in the performanceappraisal process which will make it easy to achieve the company's strategy goal and the personnel's own goal.
