Oil Shipping Company In China Crude Oil Transportation Fleet Planning Methods Research

With the continuous growth of the national economy, China's demand of crude oil increases dramatically. However, China's own production of petrol cannot meet the increasing demands. Therefore the difference between the huge demand and relatively small self-supply can only be added by turning to import. The transportation of China's imported oil largely relies on ships. Due to the increasingly large import of oil and the implementation of the oil security strategy, there comes a very good opportunity for China's oil importing fleets to develop themselves. On the other hand, the oil transportation corporations should realize the importance of properly planning their ship fleet, enhancing the general power and maintaining competitiveness. Based on this awareness, it's necessary to have a research on how to develop fleets and how to appropriately construct fleets. The aim of this thesis is to provide some valuable references for the operation of the development planning of the fleets of China's oil transportation corporations in the light of the theoretical researches.First, this thesis has a look back at the theoretical and practical outcomes in terms of researches on fleet planning. On the basis of this and by taking into account the development of China's oil transportation enterprises, the author will put forward researching object of the thesis, that is, the paths of enlarging China's fleets in the period of development can be purchasing new ships or second-hand ships and renting ships.The second and third chapters of the thesis aim at providing a simple approach to the market analysis of oil transportation corporations and to the determination of the scale of the fleets. These two chapters will (1) give a summarization of the general trend of the development of China's oil import by a rather simple quantitative prediction; (2) draw a conclusion that China should and can establish oceanic crude oil tanker fleets constructed mainly by such large ship as VLCC on the basis of analysis of the world's oil fleets and China's oceanic fleets of oil transportation; (3) determine the scale of China's oceanic oil fleets by using a optimized approach of linear planning modal based on thegeneralization of the routes and tonnage of China's oil importing. And scale merit of the large oil ships will be seen through the outcome drawn by the analysis above.The core of the thesis is to establish a mathematical modal in order to have researches on the strategy of the fleet's growth year by year. A hypothesis being the prerequisite and the object being China's oceanic fleets which enlarge their scale by purchasing new ships and renting ships, the thesis will set up a dynamic planning modal so as to achieve the purpose of minimizing the cost within the period of planning. By working out a solution to the modal, a best development strategy, or a detailed strategy for annual ship purchase and rent, will be put forward.
