A Study On The Structural Evolution Of China - ASEAN Economic Cooperation And Its Impact

After 30 years of reform and opening up, China has become the second largest economy in the world. ASEAN is Chinese neighbor, ASEAN special geographical position and the growing political and economic strength makes its important geopolitical and economic value. The main research contents of this paper are the following aspects: The first chapter introduces the background, significance, purpose and research methods of this paper; The second chapter studies the motivation and development of economic cooperation between China and ASEAN; The third chapter analyzes the structural evolution of economic cooperation between China and ASEAN; The fourth chapter studies the spillover effects caused by the structural changes in the economic cooperation between China and ASEAN, and the impact of the bilateral relations between China and ASEAN 10 countries and regional geopolitical relations; The fifth chapter puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions to strengthen the economic cooperation between China and ASEAN. The study concluded that China and ASEAN bilateral economy and trade exchanges has developed rapidly after the end of the Cold War, the structure of economic cooperation between China and ASEAN countries has also changed a lot. The increasingly close bilateral trade and investment exchanges gradually spillover to the financial, interoperability, tourism and even political and security cooperation, the relationship of Chinese and ASEAN is increasingly close. The structural evolution of economic cooperation between China and ASEAN has a certain impact on the bilateral relations between China and ASEAN 10 countries as well as geopolitics. On the bilateral relations between China and ASEAN countries, according to the situation of ASEAN countries, this paper analyzes the impact of the evolution of the economic cooperation between China and ASEAN countries on the bilateral relations. In Geopolitics, the impact of China and ASEAN economic cooperation is are the following aspects: Firstly, it is conducive to maintaining the stability of the South China Sea, but also makes a certain degree of differentiation of ASEAN; Secondly, it has increased ASEAN’s international status; Thirdly, to a certain extent, it ensures the energy security of our country; Fourthly, it contributes to the peaceful rise of our country; Fifthly, it strengthens the ASEAN “balance of power” strategy; Sixthly, it has changed the geopolitical landscape of the Asia Pacific region.Although the economic cooperation of China and ASEAN develop rapidly, but the bilateral relationship is showing “cold politics and hot economy” trend, this is obviously not conducive to the further deepening of bilateral cooperation, and then affect our country’s geopolitical and economic environment. But in recent years, United States, Japan and other foreign powers will shift its strategic focus to Southeast Asia, ASEAN has become the forefront of these countries to curb the rise of China. In this context, this paper studies the structural evolution and spillover effects of economic cooperation between China and ASEAN, as well as the impact of the bilateral relations between China and ASEAN 10 countries and Geopolitics, and analysis the problems, put forward the relevant countermeasures and suggestions, it is of great significance to enhance the spillover effect of economic cooperation between China and ASEAN, and to improve the geopolitical and economic environment of both sides.
