The Reaserch Of China-Asean Economic And Trade Cooperation In 21th Century

Economic globalization has become an irreversible trend in the development of world economy, and one significant feature of it is the unprecedented prosperity of regional economic cooperation. However, the regional economic cooperation in Asia is far behind that in other parts of the world, which is incompatible with its key position as a world economic power. Currently, all countries are actively integrating themselves into the economic globalization by seeking every opportunity of regional economic cooperationEver since 1990s, the relationship between China and ASEAN has developed in a good trend. Especially at the turn of the century, China took the opportunity of Asian financial crisis to promote the cooperation between them. As a consequence, not only has the political and security cooperation between China and ASEAN been furthered, but also the economic cooperation. In addition, based on the strategy of "10+1" promoting "10+3", the bilateral cooperation between China and ASEAN contributes to the unification of the development of East Asia cooperation as well as the establishment of the largest free trade zone in the world, that is, the ASEAN-China free trade zone, which will in turn play an important strategic role in the peace and development of this area. In November 2001, China proposed to set up China-ASEAN free trade zone. In November 2002, they signed formally initiating the progress of establishing China-ASEAN free trade zone, which will have a significant and profound effect on the economic and trade relationship between China and ASEAN. Thus, it is of both theoretical and realistic significance to study the bilateral economic and trade relationship between them for now and for the future. In methodology, this paper, by using historical materialism, gives an analysis of the development of their economic and trade cooperation from multi-perspectives. Besides, we combine relevant theories with the reality in our illustration. To be specific, we try to account for the development of the economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN and its influence on their bilateral relationship by taking the development of their economic and trade cooperation and its significance as the major topic in conjunction with the development of their bilateral relationship and current situation.Based on the analysis of current situation between China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation and introduction of relevant theories concerning the establishment of free trade zone, this paper fully demonstrates the necessity and possibility of such kind of cooperation from an economic as well as a political perspective. Moreover, it puts an emphasis on the illustration of their achievements in relevant areas, and also the difficulties confronting them. Finally we put forward solutions to solve these problems and relevant strategies of further promoting their economic and trade cooperation.
