The textile and apparel industry in China, labor-intensive, developed considerably after the reform and opening-up policy introduced in year 1978, and obtained great achievements worldwide, the textiles and apparels export exceeding all other nations and areas. The prosper of this industry degraded after the international financial crisis in 2008, because the demand of in the major developed countries dropped sharply with slow economic recovery, especially the countries in Europe and America; Most orders exported were from countries in southeast Asia after that and the orders were less and less; Other factors in China (the cost growth of raw and auxiliary materials, and the employment, the competition fierce), it challenged the survival and development of Nanjing NG Garment Company, which has engaged in the textile and apparel export. This essay probed into the core competition of Nanjing NG Garment Company to strengthen it by analyzing the problems of the company and the causes of the problems.By studying the theories of enterprise core competition and the case study of Nanjing NG Garment Company, the essay defines the concept with its major features, and the methods in identifying and evaluating the enterprise core competition. The essay also proposes the development of enterprise core competition and its further management, and stresses the importance, the special features and the function of the core competition for the enterprises in textile and apparel. By analyzing the profiles of Nanjing NG Garment Company and its current competition, the essay stresses its problems and the causes of the problems, pointing out that it’s urgent for Nanjing NG Garment Company to strengthen its core competition and further managementThe research subjects selected for the essay, Metersbonwe Group from China and Fast Retailing Group from Japan, both the famous in apparel industry, were analyzed in the development of their core competition, and the effects of those measurements employed. By comparing the experiences between the two companies in competition, the essay states the deficiency of the two companies, and recommends the measurements to strengthen their core competition.With reference to the theories in enterprise core competition and the current condition of Nanjing NG Garment Company, the essay, puts forward the measurements in improving the core competition of the company. The research method of the essay is diverse, including the literature research, field-survey, method of analysis and reference, the experts’ interview, and other methods. The research method and the proposals in this essay have positive guidance significance on the enterprise core competition for similar apparel enterprises.
