High-tech enterprise is the important economic carrier and basic force of the mode of transformation of economic growth. It is also an important driving force of the implementation of independent innovation and economic development in our country. As the core driving force of economic and social development, innovation is the solid foundation to improve the performance of high-tech enterprises, so innovation performance is the reflection of innovation ability. This study from the top management team characteristics respect to consider TMT that influence innovative performance, then come to help to improve the innovation performance related recommendations.Firstly, this study introduces the research background, clarifies the necessity and feasibility of research high-tech enterprises innovation performance, then put forward the research purpose and meaning and summarizes the current research status at home and abroad. Second, it goes to the theoretical analysis from top management team characteristics impact on innovation performance, which is according to the existing theory and research based on the analysis results. Then put forward the homogeneity and heterogeneity characteristics of the top management team impact on the role of high-tech enterprises assumptions and build the regression model and grey correlation model. Empirical part takes the data of 2012-2014, China’s Shanghai and Shenzhen listed high-tech enterprises as samples., selects a total of seven characteristics of average age, average education level, average professional background, risk appetite, age heterogeneity, the heterogeneity of education level and the heterogeneity of professional background as explanatory variables, the patent number and the net profit as explained variable to get the descriptive analysis, grey correlation analysis and regression analysis of assumptions and theoretical models.The empirical results show that average education level, average professional background, age heterogeneity and the heterogeneity of professional background for innovation performance has a significant positive effect, average age and the heterogeneity of education level for the role of innovation performance has a significant negative effect, risk appetite for the role of innovation performance has no significant effect. The seven characteristics of top management team have a very larger correlation on innovation performance, the correlation of age heterogeneity and average education level on innovation performance is the largest. Enterprises should focus on these two characteristics. Finally, through an analysis of the empirical results, this paper obtains some research enlightenment, and provides recommendations for the high-tech enterprises reasonably equipped with top management team to improve innovation performance. At the same time this paper put forward the prospects for future research.
