At present, China’s banking sector is in strategic transformation and rapid internationalization period. China’s banking industry should to reduce the cost of inputs and capital consumption, to optimize asset quality and customer service, business structure and bank governance mechanisms need to be optimized as well, for improving operational efficiency and the international competitiveness. We should comprehensive think about the scale and benefits, risks and benefits, the robustness and innovation, localization and internationalization, etc. The speed of China’s banking globalization should be accelerated. We must face the international competition with other commercial banks, and enhance the international competitiveness to realize the transformation from big to strong.As one of the five largest commercial banks in China, ICBC is on the way of internationalization. HSBC has a long history and experience which can be an example of ICBC and other commercial banks. Besides ICBC and HSBC, we select The Banker magazine ranked the world’s top 20 powerful type bank and 14 China’s banks as the research sample. We draw a large number scholars of documents, data and research methods on the firm(especially on commercial banks) competitiveness, core competitiveness, and international competitiveness, thus more comprehensive and accurate definition of the international competitiveness of the commercial bank concept and evaluation system. Considering all of these experiences, we put forward the policy measure advice. The research can also lead to other study in the competitiveness field. It also provides comprehensive rank criteria to government’s macro decisions&policies making and supervision.
