As GSM network is marching forward, it loads a heavier burden on daily work of network optimization. In order to improve the efficiency, it is necessary to develop a practical tool for network maintenance and optimization.As a great number of data are produced during daily network processing, varieties of network element equipments are getting involved which requires aid from corresponding tools to promote daily work efficiency. A great variety of tools of this type are available in market, but its complicated operations and high cost make it unsuitable for processing daily data. To develop a data processing tool linking up with local network seems greatly important to level up daily work efficiency.In the mobile communication network, a variety of equipments cooperate at the same time to complete a talking. Physics equipment is the base of network on which all works are built. The development of the GSM network analysis tool is based on the physical network element parts which are Network Switching Subsystem (NSS), Base Station Subsystem (BSS) and Mobile Station (MS). The statistics data of parameters of equipments are analyzed referring to the network analysis method. Then the statistics data is distributed in the geographic data and physics configuration and the unreasonable parameters of the network will be discovered and modified according to calculation result and experience. The best result which has been repeatedly tested is saved into the experience database as the experience case. Considering the fast convenience of the network optimization tools, we chose the VB programming and ACESS database.The GSM network analysis tool is the system based on the VB model which can visit the ACCESS database. The GSM network analysis tool is divided into seven independent function modules, which is useful for the team cooperation. Loosely coupling of the modules is achieved by the ACCESS design during the realization of the modules. The database query is connected by the means of SQL. For the presentation modules based on statistics data and geographic information, it can ensure the accurate data by numbering the stations. For the presentation modules based on statistics data and station configuration parameter, the test results show good adaptability and imitate character of the station. As configuration parameter plays as foundation of network operation, the auto-detecting function module is developed to make sure of the correctness of the basic information. The information module for fast checking and configuration is developed, which is useful to modify the configuration information. In the statistical module for adjacent area switching, the statistics data which sorts according to switching times can show the information about user behavior and cross-zone covering. The module of the experience database can classify and sum the problem of the daily network and it accesses the database which is convenient for workers. The comprehensive analysis module can summarize the problems of the daily network and key index of the statistics data, which is helpful for workers to make judgment.The main advantage of the analysis tool is that it can connect the database of the experience acknowledge, which is helpful for workers to local the network problem. Besides, the cases are imported into database as experience data, which highly improves work effectiveness.
