Computer network is more and more useful as a rapid developing technology. At present ,Universities built own campus network in order to satisfy their education, research and information .This made people study network technology more and more widely .My paper research emphatically average net delay, throughput and bit error rate whose source is yanshan university fund.Former research was based on a qualitative analysis, which hadn't a measurable analysis on concrete network. We hope that we can build a mathematical model based on concrete network , and make a measurable analysis. At the same time, it has great superiority that we discuss LAN's performance at user layer. But it depends too much on specific application and equipment. We hope that network research may emphasize on common model of network . Basing on this thought , I regard YanShan University campus network as research object . Through the analysis of YanShan University campus network's physical topological model , logical topological model and data transfer character , etc , I build corresponding math model , make systematic analysis, deduction and calculation , and give some principal parameters which affect performance of LAN and relationship between them . Such as the concrete relation between transfer delay and throughput, the effect of average retransfer delay on transfer delay, throughput and transfer delay are contradictory entity .We can find the minimum net delay when throughput is maximum or the maximum throughput when net delay is minimum through measurable calculation. We can only receive compromising throughput and transfer delay in order that we could obtain network's optimal integrated performance. It provides theoretical foundation to improve and adjust network performance . It also has theoretical significance and realistic significance for the rational program and construction of campus network .
