With the continuous development of World Economic Integration and the gradual aggravation of the market competition, to transform the traditional production and management mode through information integration will be faced urgently to each enterprise. ERP and some other management systems have enhanced the level of the management, but they are weak in tools management. Under the condition of marketing competition, cost should be controlled seriously in an enterprise. It is obviously that the tools management is a bottleneck in implement of information integration.The purpose of this thesis is to construct a Tools Management Information System with the role-based access control, web-based database access technology, and the three-tier software architecture in order to increase the production efficiency and improve the competitiveness of manufacturing industry. Aiming at such goals, the thesis first gives the background of relevant applications in existing tools management information systems, in which later we point out some advantages and disadvantages of the system. Afterwards a tools management information system is proposed. The system function is expounded on the view of system design and realization. The realization effect figure of system functional module is shown at the end of thesis.The main innovation of this thesis is outlined as follows. Firstly, the roles and privilege division of tools management information system are given based on role-based access control restriction model and roles hierarchy structure theory in order to distribute the privilege through reasonable roles allocation. Then, we apply the three-tier code architecture(data access layer,business logical layer,user interface) based on three-tier software architecture to develop all the system modules.The system is developed on Microsoft .NET platform with two core services of that (ASP.NET Web Forms service and ADO.NET database access service). ASP.NET has strong strategic significance for its rich class library and simple Web Forms application. The service for data access gets the revolutionary development in .NET, the data access service, provided by .NET Framework named ADO.NET, is not a simple upgrade of ADO, it is capable for providing consistent data access service for different data source, such as SQL Server, OLE DB, and XML to support different development requirement.
