Tools information is relative with every aspect of the manufacture, and can influence the efficiency directly or indirectly.It is reported by most engine manufacturer that the cost in tool management,such as storage,prepare,repair and purchasing,is event more than the price of tool.Nowadays,ERP and some other information management system put their focus on optimizing the operation of the enterprise,and neglect the importance of the tool management.When the cost-down becomes more and more important for the manufacturer,tool management becomes a fetal defect to be resolved.Considering all above,it is necessary to reform tool management with information technology.Firstly,it is discussed the present conditions of the tool management of engine manufactures,and then the summarize of the tool management systems of the world,and the advantages and disadvantages of it,which shows the necessity of the implement of a new tool management system.Based on it,an analysis about the requirements,the overall structure,sub-system partition and technology selection of tool management system is performed,and then the system design is discussed in detail.The discussion focuses on how to design the data management pattern based on the actual workflow of DongAN engine manufacture.Finally, the distribution and the extension of the system are given.
