In the maintenance of optical fiber transmission systems, monitoring error performance trends is an important problem. In optical fiber transmission systems, the timely or beforehand alarming function can greatly ensure the normal operation of the systems. The management software with monitoring and analysis functions enable network administrators to work efficiently, and this network management software will be more suitable for requirement of subscribers.In this thesis, the optical Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) transmission system architecture and the development of the error performance management system are described. The main tasks include:1) In the optical fiber transmission systems, management software was lack of error performance analysis functions, so in this work the regression analysis and curve fitting algorithms are used to realize the error performance analysis functions. Then the administrator can be aware of the fault timely.2) The error performance monitoring and alarming analysis functions of the management software are designed and realized. Software interface with strong operation ability is also realized to improve the efficiency of the fault treatment.The designed product in this thesis has been integrated into the present network management software, and has obtained satisfied applications.
