In recent years, the virtual reality technology in the field of education training plays a more and more important role. It is a revolutionary reform in education, which will push forward in china. With the rapid development of digital campus theory of mature and virtual reality technology, 3D graphics processing technology, the application of virtual reality in campus construction becomes more and more important for the domestic universities, with the requirements of functions and moderate price of 3d virtual campus system.Panzhihua University is a comprehensive university in southwest Sichuan, which cultivates talents for it, and focused on building a high level of talent training, positive response to environmental state of digital campus construction. Due to the geographical environment, the students'recruition, management, and other aspects have great differences between the plains colleges. The virtual system can greatly reduce the burden in these aspects. So this thesis takes the C Area buildings in Panzhihua University as the main research object, and aims to develop a set of virtual campus roaming system with complete function which can serve the students and teachers, be convenient to manage and plan and improve the management level of opening laboratory.This thesis based on virtual campus which will be realized by OpenGL, in an attempt to improve precision degree model and the real-time rendering speed two aspects. Main contents include:1. Have studied one kind of method that can read the 3ds file formats to build a virtual campus geometric model. This method deals with content in two aspects: How to import 3DS file and How to build a model with the imported file.2. Have studied one kind of method that can build a virtual environment, included the trees, the sky, light, etc.3. Have studied one kind of method that can give consideration to both real-time and human-computer interaction of virtual campus.This interface of system easy to operate, through the keyboard and the mouse can realize the virtual roaming of system.
