In order to meet the need for economic development and the safety of energy-supply, gas exploration and production has been enhanced in China since the end of 20th century. During the development of gas fields, complicated pipeline network has been formed underground connected to wellsites, stations, etc. Consequently, massive data of design, pipeline construction as well as completion needs to be categorized and stored. Especially in recent years, more gas field projects have been under operation, hence, more and more data and information has to be handled. However, the traditional method of manual data management can not meet the practical need for process of massive data. Therefore, a new data management system for pipeline construction must be developed.In this paper, object-oriented information system for surface projects has been studied and established. At first, the theory of object-oriented information system has been reviewed. Then, the software for object-oriented information system has been developed with C# language under the .NET environment by utilizing the UML object-oriented analysis and design method. After that, the system developed in this paper is shown in details on how to analyze, design, implement for an actual project in a gas field, also, the system is tested by input case data. In addition, the study in this paper can be used as reference for similar system development in the future.
