Optical transport network is the core of telecommunications network. The developing process has experienced from PDH, SDH, multi-service optical transport network based on the combination of SDH and WDM, the packet-switched technology, to next-generation optical transport network based on the combination of OTN and WDM. However, no matter what transmission technology is used, optical transport network carries lots of service types and different granularities for it. At the same time, due to optical network topology's complexity and high survivability, it should be transformed to auto switch optical network consisting of the transport plane, control plane and management plane, also called ASON. The emergence of ASON has changed the traditional centralized optical transport network, forming the distributed optical network, which transmits more efficiently, configures service more flexibly, and makes the protection and restoration features in the mesh network possible. Due to ASON network's flexibility, complexity and diversity of services, the traditional way cannot meet requirements, so a specialized analysis tool is nessary for ASON network planning.This thesis is to study guaranteed restoration circuit, which is an import path in the ASON network. Guaranteed restoration circuit in itself is a rather special circuit, keeping a pair of SRLG disjointess routes which called nominal and backup route to survive a single failure; taking advantage of backup route registration and resources preempt to save network resources and reduce operating cost. According to guaranteed restoration circuit's working behaviour, this thesis presents guaranteed restoration circuit's routing implement, restoration analysis of guaranteed restoration circuit by simulate network entities failure, and capacity design if there is no resource available in the network, so that the planning for guaranteed restoration circuit is achieved. In the end, we give the actual data to illustrate in which circumstances the network resource preemption will happen in the process of nominal route establishment, backup route registration and backup route activation. From the design results, it can be seen that these strategies are in line with the working mechanism of guaranteed restoration circuit, which is proper planning for guaranteed restoration circuit.
