Ultrasonic diagnostic instrument mainly refers to the ultrasound imaging device in the medical imaging system. It is a medical instrument which uses the differences between physical properties of ultrasound and acoustic properties of human organ tissue to draw the corresponding waveform, curve, or images for diagnosis of diseases. With the development of high-speed computer and digital signal processing(DSP)chip technology, some manufacturers and research institutes have put forward the concept of virtual ultrasound, ultrasound combined with the virtual instrument technology will become the inevitable trend of next generation ultrasound system. Software-based ultrasound diagnostic system research platform provide a good platform for developing ultrasonic software products, it transfer the ultrasound RF signal to the PC directly, and use the high-speed computer develop application software and signal processing software. In this software platform, we can easily modify and optimize the algorithms, without changing the hardware, so it can realize the software-based ultrasound system, save a large number of back-end hardware costs, increase flexibility, and ease of upgrades. The study of this project adapt to the trend of medical equipment in our country, in order to resolve these questions: constrained by the hardware development environment, long development cycles, it provides an effective solution, improves the research and development capabilities of medical equipment in our country, and lowers the costs of research and development.The main contents in this paper are as follows:1,Design PCI bus interface controller: According to the subject I selected the appropriate chip and made all of the chips be acquainted minutely. Based on fully understanding of the performance and structure of PCI bus protocol and PCI bus controller, FIFO buffer chip, CPLD control chip, I built up an overall block diagram of transmission system and using the DXP2004 I designed a high-speed acquisition card which was required in ultrasonic RF signal.2,Design CPLD Logic Control Module: after learning the process of CPLD logic development, the interface timing with other components, I used Verilog HDL programming language to achieve the signal transduction between the various components, and made all the chips coordinate with others.3,Design system driver: I designed the system driver under the windriver environment. Using the DMA block transfer mode of PCI bridge chip, the data was transferred a frame of the data to PC one time through the interrupt.4,Design Ultrasonic RF Signal processing module: The ultrasonic RF data was saved as .Mat format file. after implementing a series of ultrasonic signal processing under the MATLAB simulation environment, such as: dynamic filtering, envelope detector, logarithmic compression, DSC, the ultrasonic RF data was transformed into video data, which can be seen by eyes.5,Display images: ultrasound RF-data has a specific format, after converting into video data, we can restore the original image directly under the MATLAB environment.
