The flyers, such as stealth aircraft, Anti-radiation Missile, and Cruise Missile and so on, are widely used in the environment of the morden war. The radar echoes of them are much weaker than those of traditional flyers. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the performance of radar to detect weak targets in strong clutter environment remarkably in order to detect threats in time and then the mission of early warning can be accomplished. The threats can be detected more effectively and reliably in very complicated environments through Track-Before-Detect (TBD) than Detect-Before-Track (DBT).Therefore, TBD is studied widely all over the world.The dissertation focuses on the problem of weak target detection and studies the Particle Filter and Dynamic Programming Algorithm (DPA) based TBD technique. It mainly comprises:1.Aiming at the problem that the weak targets can hardly be detected through DBT technique, the drawbacks of DBT technique are analysized in the respects of pulse number limitation, Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) and so on, taking the CFAR Detoctor based on Goodness of Fit (GoF) test for example.2.Aiming at the problem of choosing and configuring the birth and continue particle numbers in the Efficient Sample Importance Resampling TBD (ESIR-TBD) algorithm, an experienced configuration criterion is proposed and then the performance of ESIR-TBD can be improved.3.Aiming at the problem of the low efficiency usage of particles in standard Auxiliary SIR based TBD (SASIR-TBD) algorithm, the Efficient Auxiliary SIR based TBD (EASIR-TBD) algorithm is proposed which has better detection performance and tracking accuracy than SASIR-TBD and so on.4.Aiming at the problem that the performance evaluation criterion for Track-before-Detect (TBD) is not united and comprehensive, a Joint Detecting and Tracking performance evaluation method is proposed. The method can evaluate and compare the performances of different TBD algorithms effectively in the respectsof target and trajectory detection performances. The effectiveness of the methods are validated by simulations.The results show that weak targets can be detected and tracked effectively by Particle Filter based TBD and Dynamic Programming Algorithm based TBD,compared with DBT methods.
