In this thesis, a dual R-2R network structure that can achieve bipolar voltage output, is presented. This thesis involved the theoretical estimations and simulations on different characteristics of dual R-2R network. The dual R-2R network is processed and tested. The test result shows comparing with two other common single R-2R network which also can achieve bipolar voltage output, the dual R-2R network win the advantages on the characteristics about process independence and long-term stability.The research contents are showed as follows:1.Based on gathering and clearing up lots of literatures about D/A converters, this study summarizes the fundamental of different kinds of D/A converters'structures, and also concludes the D/A converter products'history and the direction of developing.2.Depended on different applications, this study also introduces the definition of static parameters and dynamic parameters of D/A converter.3.A research on two common single R-2R networks which can achieve bipolar voltage output. The research involves three aspects that can affect the performance of D/A converter. The first aspect is the quantity of the bits that need laser trim. This aspect relates with process independence. The second aspect is the resistance's long-term drift can cause the parameter of D/A converter's long-term stability problem. The third aspect is the offset voltage of operational amplifier can affect the D/A converter's Integral nonlinearity. Theoretical estimations and simulations are done on every aspect of the two single R-2R networks in this study.4.This thesis focuses on the dual R-2R network's fundamental and characteristics. The three aspects that can affect the performance of D/A converter are also researched, comparing with two common single R-2R networks. A conclusion is given.5.A scheme about a qual bipolar voltage output 12 bits D/A converter product that uses dual R-2R network is presented. The operational amplifier's parameters are also discussed. The laser trimming method is also given.In this thesis, a dual R-2R network is presented. This network is used in a qual 12 bits D/A converter product which be yielded in the Institute of CETC 24. The product's performance achieves the contract's require. The product is sold well. And create profits for the Institute of CETC 24.
