With the continuous development of information technology, higher requirements of various kinds of LED display are needed. After decades of development, LED display experiences single color, double color to today's full color display, now it has been widely used in telecommunications, postal services, financial services, transportation, sports facilities and other outdoor advertising industry. LED display can not develop without the development of driver IC and control system; it will get a better display effect and meet application requirements of various occasions through an improved driver IC combined with its control system. At present, the main manufacturers of specific LED display driver IC are TOSHIBA, TI, SONY, MBI, SITI, and so on.In this article, a 16-channels LED drive controller IC is designed, which based on 0.35um mixed-signal CMOS process. The range of input voltage is 3 ~ 5.5V, and the output current range of each channel is 5 ~ 90mA with an adjustable resistance. Among the channels of this IC, the typical value of current matching accuracy is 1%. Compared to the previous commonly used 16-channel constant current LED driver,it not only has better output current regulation accuracy and higher current matching precision, but also consumes smaller chip area. As a result, the cost can be significantly reduced in the industrial production. The top-down method is used in this chip, including feasibility prove, circuit functions determination, circuit performance, Parameters determination, sub-circuit design and simulation, the whole circuit simulation, the tolerance analysis of sub-circuits and the whole circuit and so on. The main analog module of the IC is focused on the design and simulation, such as voltage reference, output circuit, SRAM, etc. Also the important parameters simulation waveforms of sub-circuit were delivered and tolerance data are listed in this article. Based on the control block of LED display driving chip, the control codes in SDRAM are also given out in the appendix of the dissertaion.
