With the development of communication technology, computer technology and microprocessor technology, embedded system are widely applied to many fields, such as national defense, communication, medical treatment and people's daily lives. Embedded system has become a popular industry in nowadays. In order to study and research embedded system, many universities are planning to teach embedded system. For this purpose, this paper introduces the design of embedded platform based on ARM, which is mainly used in teaching and further developping.In this thesis, the architecture, feature, background of the embedded system and ARM microprocessor are introduced at first. Then by analyzing the requirements of the system, this paper introduces the design proposal of this embedded platform. After that, the design and debug of the hardware and software system is introduced, which includes the development of BootLoader, the transplantation of the Linux embedded operation system and the development of root filesystem. Then, this paper introduces the development and debugging of the LCD driver and touchscreen driver in Linux operation system and describes the principle and architecture of the drivers. At last, the implement of embedded GUI on this platform is introduced.Through the research of this topic, the embedded platform has achieved our goals. The experimental system for teaching embedded system is implemented. The test results show that the embedded platform can run successfully and stably. And also the embedded platform provides most of the common interface, it can be used in many field for the future development.
