With the development of economy and rapid improvement of living standard, the number of vehicles is increasing persistently. Subsequently, the traffic accidents increase dramatically, the society and government are paying more and more attentions for that. In order to reach the safer traffic, the technique of Intelligent Vehicles with the function of active anti-collision is an effective measure. In this dissertation, various techniques of active anti-collision measurement systems are reviewed. On the basis of the comparison of these systems, a semiconductor laser measurement system applied specifically to anti-collision for automotives is proposed. The basic components of this system and the principles are analyzed.According to the designed basic framework, the impulse power source for the semiconductor laser is designed and simulated. A nanosecond impulse power supply for semiconductor lasers based on avalanche transistor is studied. Experiments show that this power could supply pulses with 2kHz repetition rate,20ns pulse width and 1A peak current. The output impulse current can drive the semiconductor laser to emit required modulated pulses. The optical system for the receiver is designed. And the preamplifier circuit based upon SA5212 for the PIN detector is studied. An automatic gain control circuit based on AD603 used for the signal processing is also investigated. Finally based on the designed laser measurement system, experiments of laser ranging are conducted in the lab. The results show that this system is feasible. For subsequent research, this system has certain referential value and practical significance.
