IP address is the basic resource of IP network, but the method to manage IP address is very excile. The traditional DHCP can just make IP distribution convenient and doesn't support the management and control toward IP base on user, such as it can't decide whether to allocate IP address or allocate what IP address for different user.Because of it's disadvantage, some network manager even give up DHCP and replace it with manually static IP management to meet his requirement for IP management based on user.Base on an improving program toward an actual school network, a solution for improving DHCP using Radius is provided in this article. It's goal is to provide the ability for DHCP to manage the IP based on user privilege, and then make the IP management more convenient and effective, at the same time, it will keep the convenience for IP allocation of DHCP.This solution make administrator can configure the allocation rule base on Radius user, and DHCP will decide the allocation result through communicating with Radius to get the corresponding user's allocation rule dynamic when handling the allocation REQUEST. It will give many facilities for network admin to formulate allocation rule base on Radius user, because they can be thought as actual net user. On the other hand, this solution also can prevent from DOS attACK toward DHCP server and improve its security ability. This paper discuss some key mechanisms in this solution by details, which including user identification, the analysis toward allocation rule model and the free of lease, and it also give the design and implement of this system.
