With the development of market economy since the reform and opening up, the dramatically changes of Chinese political, economic, and cultural are reflected in lacking of elite culture and rising of popular culture. Contemporary social and cultural re-building is reflected in Picture time, consumption time and body time. Media culture, which important part is female fashion magazine has developed considerably in the context of popular culture. Large market share of and wider participation of women from all levels contribute to the focus on female fashion magazine of this article in the context of popular culture. Analyze image construction in female fashion magazine in the context of popular culture, and explore the cultural meaning of language in female fashion magazine from the propective of gender cultural.This article is divided into three parts, namely introduction, body,and conclusion.The body part is divided into three chapters. Chapter I generally introduces the origin, significance and status of the study, the literature review and identifies the object and research methods of the study, and illustrate the innovations of this article.By investigating the found time, place, background, expected circulation and actual circulation, pre-readers and actual readers and other aspects of the magazine, meticulous research on the case of this article—"thin Girl" is done and the value and significance of this practical case is established.ChapterⅡdefines the concept of female fashion magazines, combs the generation and development of female fashion magazines, grasps the development context of female fashion magazines from a macro perspective and identifies their market position.ChapterⅢis a deep analysis on the female image of the cover images on "thin girl", including "Teen idol" image represented by Cecilia, "neutral beauty" female image represented by Miaopu, lovely female image represented by Rainie and gentle and virtuous female image represented by Jiang Yiyan. The same status of women, the construction effect of the power to significance, how to choose priority significance and existance of different "others"are analyzed through the women mentioned above.The fourth chapter, turning to the magazine text, taps the male discourse in "Thin Girl". The underlying social and cultural factors which are tapped by doing corresponding analysis on content, significance, and form of "thin Girl", are showed by the consumer culture DreamWorks and pleasure culture. Speek of patterns, magazine content is characterized by the feature of type.Finally, summary the article, re-examine the current flourishing female fashion magazines and the generally ignored sex discrimination. The female images in the context of popular culture have not yet had time to step out of the shackles of the patriarchal society, but into the new "trap" of media operation and packaging. This is reflected in female fashion magazines by the male hegemony in patriarchal society and the lack of gender awareness. Therefore, in the new situation, re-examine the construction of social and culture to the mass media and enhance gender awareness in the field of media is imperative.
