The digital video capture and storage system is gradually replacing the analog video capture and storage system for the advantages of efficiency, higher speed and reliability. It is widely used in the field of national defense, public security, traffic control, medical care, etc. As the core issue of digital video capture and storage system,Embedded video processing platform design and video encoding decoding have become the main emphasis of image processing and pattern recognition research area.Aiming at improving the performance of the embedded video capture system, this paper introduces the current situation of digital video capture and storage system, describing the implementation principle of video capture, compressed encoding, data storage and video playback. The disadvantages of the existing system are analyzed. Starting with the choice of the new devices and the design of the new platform, we use SPCE3200 embedded processor which integrates MPEG4 codec function modules and combines with a CMOS image sensor module, TFT-LCD display module and an SD card to realize a video capture and storage system.Based on the analysis of the SPCE3200 processor and the corresponding development platform, a new solution of video capture and storage is proposed, which transplants eCos embedded operating system and MicroWindows GUI to build up the embedded software design environment. In the design of application software, we use modular design concept in accordance with the features of each function module in turn. The system reduces the video file size in the context of ensuring the quality of the original video, achieving real-time video data compression, and the compressed video file can be decoded to achieve a smooth video playback. The results show that the system can realize 320pixelĂ—240pixel resolution of 15 frames per second real-time video capture and compression. The system design has certain innovative and practical value in video capture and processing.
