Green laser can be used for a variety of applications in such as printing,medical treatment,high-density data storage,military,life sciences and so on. The four-level transition of 4 F3/2â†'4I11/2 in the Nd-doped double-clad fiber laser makes the laser generation more easily and the green laser can be acquired by frequency-doubling. In this dissertation we discussed the characteristics of the Nd3+-doped double-clad fiber laser and analyzed the second harmonic green laser's generation in theory and in the experiments. The main content is listed as follows:1. The progress at home and abroad of the fiber laser and the Nd3+-doped fiber laser is summaried. Also the characteristics of the fiber laser with different doped ions are discussed. Finally make a research on the applications of the green laser and the methods to obtain the green laser are analyzed.2. The Nd-doped double-clad green fiber laser is studied in theory. The output characteristics of the near infrared laser at 1088nm of the Nd-doped double-clad fiber laser' four-level transition which contains the relationship between the output power,threshold and the slope efficiency and the fiber length under different mirror's transmission are simulated by the matlab software. Then the formula of the double frequency efficiency under the approximation of plane wave and Gaussian wave are deduced. At last the phase-matched conditions of the uniaxial crystal and the biaxial crystal are made a research.3. The characteristics of the inner-clad with different structures,coupling system,resonant cavity and the frequency doubling crystals are discussed. And the two-lens coupling system is designed. Also the phase matching angles of the frequency-doubling crystals are calculated. The conclusion is a good guidance of the experiments.4. Experiments show that the coupling efficiency is above 75%,the maximum output power of the fundamental laser at 1088nm is 1.58 W,the maximum output power of the green laser at 544nm is 20mW and the effective frequency-doubled efficiency is 1.27% using the LBO as the doublefrequency crystal.5. Summarized the work in this paper and give the prospect of the research in the future.
