Active-passive joint tracking is an important part of target tracking on fusion of multi-sensor. It can achieve that the data of active sensor and passive sensor complement each other to improve the tracking accuracy and the system's viability. The active-passive synergistic tracking discussed in this paper is a branch of active-passive joint tracking. It can meet the need of the good tracking accuracy and the good concealment at the same time, which has very important military significance and attracts wide attention in increasingly complex modern battlefield environment. Based on this background, this paper relates to the techniques of correlated gating, time registration, data fusion and nonlinear filtering. And based on these techniques, the paper studies and improves the active-passive joint tracking algorithm.First, the paper brings a tracking system's performance evaluation with the knowledge of correlated gating, because for the active-passive synergistic tacking system, how to achieve the transformation between two modes, and minimize the boot time of active sensor, is very important. Then by comparison, for highly maneuvering target, the paper educes with "current" model, the probability of receiving right echo and the size of associated area have better stability.Second, active sensor and passive sensor have different sampling periods, so if the data of different sampling times is used directly for targeting, it will lead to large errors. To avoid this possibility, the paper uses virtual combination method to implement the registration of data.Third, several data fusion structures and algorithms are introduced. By comparison, a distributed fusion structure with feedback is chosen, which can achieve the data of active sensor and passive sensor complement each other and enhance the accuracy of target tracking. So, the method is useful for synergistic tracking system. The paper applies this method of data fusion in synergistic tracking system to improve its performance.Then, several non-linear filtering algorithms are studied and compared. The unscented kalman filter is chosen by comparison, and is applied in the active-passive synergistic tracking system to improve its performance. With theoretical arguments and several simulations, the validity of the improved algorithm is approved.Finally, With the simulation of the virtual route, the techniques of correlated gating, time registration, distributed fusion structure with feedback, and improved active-passive synergistic tracking algorithm is effective, and provide a useful reference to engineering application.
