With the advantages of high hidden quality and distant range Single Observer Passive Location Technology,which locates the target by receiving signal from target, has a high reseach value. And then, due to its unique advantages and typical representation,the study about Single Observer passive location with bearings-only has always been taking an important place during the study about the passive location technology. In this dissertation, the author continues to do the relevant theoretical researchs on technology of Single Observer Passive Location with bearing-only measurement, particularly in the passive location algorithm based on previous studies work.The paper establishes corresponding mathematical model combining single observer passive location with bearings-only with the common target motion model, Non-observability is a typical of Passive Location with bearing-only measurement, the author summarizes a variety of observable criteria from our predecessors and discusses the observability of the targets in detail with non-linear system theory. and then the author comes up with the observer maneuver strategies taken by the common target motion model to overcome the non-observability.Passive Location with bearing-only measurement is an optimal estimation problem.In that secter, beginning with the estimation theory, the author give least squares algorithm which common used in parameter estimation.With least-squares algorithm, the author carries on the experiment about estimation simulation, Then,give Kalman filter algorithm,which always use to state estimation under linear system.Passive Location with bearing-only measurement is non-linear system, The main contents of Passive Location Algorithm is hunt for suitable non-linear filtering algorithm for optimal state estimation, author introduces Pseudo-linear Kalman Filter, Extended Kalman Filter and Unscented Kalman Filter,makes them apply in simulation experiments by positioning system in this paper. Give a performance analysis of various algorithms,combination of test results. For easily divergent defect of the Extended Kalman Filter algorithm for defect, the author analysis the reasons for its performance shortcomings, innovatives some solutions and introduces some algorithm that can improve the performance of Extended Kalman Filter, with presenting the performance comparison.Finally, since the complex calculation of the the Unscented Kalman Filter, presented its simplified algorithm, and its positioning system model used in this article.
