With the development of infrared imaging,the performance of infrared imaging system is improved and the manufacturing cost is reduced increasingly. Infrared imaging technology has extended from military field to a broader civilian field,and developed from previous tactical position to hodiernal strategic position.However,the infrared images has some issues such as non-uniformity,noise diversification,low contrast,fuzzy visual effects and so on.For the deficiency of infrared images,this paper mainly focuses on the preprocessing of infrared images,and discusses the hardware implementations of different algorithms. Specific research contents and results are as follows:(1) For the image sources and manifestations of non-uniformity,this paper presents high pass filtering non-uniformity correction for the temperature drift.All the corrections of this algorithm are completed during the output process.(2) On how to effectively suppress noise,we design interframe filtering algorithm and median filter algorithm.The algorithms using the space information of images,has a better effect on noise suppression and less computation.(3)For the low contrast of infrared images,here presents edge adaptive sharpening technology and local parameters sharpening technology.Improve the contrast of images and enhance the resolution of image edge details by enhancing the weak-edge focusedly,enhancing image edge properly and suppressing the noise.(4)For the conflict between the large dynamic range of signal source and small dynamic range of display output during the process of infrared focal plane array signals,this paper presents infrared images adaptive histogram equalization technology.It solves the limit on the performance of infrared focal plane array system causing by the danamic range, improves the image quality.On that basis,we validate the efficiency of the algorithms presented in this paper by a large number of outdoor experiments.
