Analects of Confucius is a very important literature to study the Confucius and Confucianism.The original version has 27 volumes but it had been lost for long.Here we have the one collected by Wang Su(in Wei Dynasty) and it has 10 volumes. Analects of Confucius was always regarded as a fault literature in the past;however, with quiet a few unearthed papers coming to us,we start to reflect the reality of it. Now,it is regarded as the true version in mainstream view.Chapter One The Roundup of the Recent Researches on the Confucian Analects.There are seven aspects:Ⅰ.Researches on the unearthed documents and the completed written and spread of the Confucian Analects;Ⅱ.Research on Wang Su and the Confucian Analects;Ⅲ.Relevant researches on the Confucian Analects and the Confucius and Confucianism:A.Researches on the Confucian;B.Researches on the Confucian Analects and the disciples of the Confucian;C.Research on the Confucianism in Wei and Jin dynasties.Ⅳ.Further researches on the single version of the Confucian Analects;Ⅴ.Researches on the Confucian Analects versions and the investigation and revision on the characters;Ⅵ.The introduction and general narration of the relevant researches on the Confucian Analects;Ⅶ.The achievements of the annotation and working up of the Confucian Analects.This article tries to start with various catalogue records of all dynasties,keeping a foothold in various versions of the Confucian Analects in different libraries (especially in Chinese National Library),hackling the circulation thread of the versions of all dynasties,in order to get the new recognition to the issues of imprinting,circulation and evolution for this book.Consequently,it can supply the fundamental evidence for the further intensive research on the Confucian Analects and the early Confucianism.In this essay,I observed the detailed information of the each bibliography, historical ones,nation-revised ones and private ones.Then,I grasped how it comes down by generation. We can make a conclusion of how it comes down through detailed collections of its each version.Before Ming Dynasty,there were simple versions of Analects of Confucius,four in all:27 volumes,21 volumes,10 volumes,and 3 volumes.And we had two persons who made notes on it;they were Wang Su and Wang Guangmou.In this period,we had only limited versions:27 volumes(without notes),21 volumes(notes by Wang Su),10 volumes(notes by Wang Su),3 volumes(selected notes by Wang Guangmou).The earliest existing version is xinbiankongzijiayujujieshi juan,carved by Liu Jiaqing in 1367.In Ming Dynasty,we had 14 versions:Ⅰ,plain words(without notes),Ⅱ. biaotijujiekongzijiayusanjuan(with the titles explained and noted by Wang Guangrnou),Ⅲ.3 volumes(carved in Ming Dynastym,but no marker),Ⅳ.10 volumes of Analects of Confucius carved by Mao in his study Ji Gu Ge(in Ming Dynasty),Ⅴ. 8/3 volumes of Analects of Confucius noted by He Mengchun,Ⅵ.10 volumes of Analects of Confucius carved by Huang Mengceng,Ⅶ.,10 volumes of Analects of Confucius revised and added by Lu Zhi,Ⅷ.10 volumes of Analects of Confucius proofread by Wu Mian,Ⅸ.all series of 5 volumes,Ⅹ,abnormal volumes(such as:not divided into volumes,2 volumes,1 volume),Ⅺ.10 volumes of Analects of Confucius noted by He Bozhai,Ⅻ.11 volumes of Analects of Confucius with illustrations(by Wu Jiamo)ⅩⅢ.10 volumes of Analects of Confucius noted by He Tang,ⅩⅣ. xinkezhushikongzixiansijuan by Chen Jitai(with notes and it's authorized).In Qing Dynasty,we had versions of Analects of Confucius such as kongzijiayushijuanben,jiayuzhengyishijuan,collected by Jiang Zhaoxi. Jiaoyushuzhengliujuan,by Sun Zhizu,jiaobuhemengchuzhukongzijiayubajuan, proofread by Lu Wenchao.Kongzijiayushuzhengshijuan by Chen Shike, jiayuzhengweishiyijuan by Fan Jiaxiang,kongzijiayushijuan(zishubaijia version). Kongzijiayushijuanzhajiyijuan by Liu Shiheng,Analects of Confucius(five volumes, two volumes,one volume,four volumes,forty volumes versions)In total,we had about eleven versions.The most popular versions among them are 10 volumes version,Jiguge version,Lu Wenchao proofread version and Liu Shiheng noted version.Even now,the three versions are still very popular. According to the contents of the different versions of Analects of Confucius,we can divide them into commentary version,partial noted version,rhymed version, abridgment version;edit version,variorum and ect.For modern versions,there are several versions considered the publishing unit, they are shanghai zhonghua shuju,hubei chongwei shuju,shanghai saoye shufang,shanghai shangwu yinshuguan and the others.Given the literature form, we get single version,and series version.The modern versions,generally includes four versions.They are photocopy version,vernacular remarked version,studying regeneration version(e.g.Special Index).For abroad part,there are photocopy version,vernacular remarked version and index version of Analects of Confucius.In Japan,there are five species of Analects of Confucius;publishing version of Analects of Confucius,commentary literature,remarked literature,studying version for series of points and Japan version.Through the studying of series of versions of Analects of Confucius,we can improve the understanding of Analects of Confucius's importance,and also master the developing character of classical literature.
