Real-time Video Scaling Algorithm And Fpga Realization

Video image resolution adjustment and format conversion both need to use video zooming technology. Speedy image zooming technology which is able to achieve real-time can be applied on video zooming.Traditional image zooming technology uses interpolation techno ledge function to carry out reconstruction of the original image by interpolation in foundation of existing pixel points. This paper introduced the theoretical basis for image interpolation - sampling theorem and discussed the ideal reconstruction function - Sinc function and . This paper introduced commonly used linear image interpolation technology, as well as the pixel fill, adaptive interpolation and wavelet-domain interpolation techniques, such as non-linear zooming. Then , this paper presented the hierarchical linear interpolation algorithm,and then design and implement the hierarchical Bicubic interpolation algorithm in FPGA. Finally, this paper analyzed and discussed the effect of a variety of algorithms.Based on the analysis of the existing video zooming algorithm , this paper presented hierarchical linear interpolation algorithm, and applied to simplify the linear interpolation algorithm. The hierarchical interpolation algorithm expenses of some accuracy using look-up table insteading of multiplication, the algorithm can reduce the complexity. Designed and implemented hierarchical Bicubic interpolation algorithm . Detailedly introduced module structure and design in FPGA and presented the overall structure of on-board system. Compared between the hierarchical linear interpolation algorithm and original algorithm , the analysis results showed at a conclusion that smaller error between them and linear interpolation algorithm can be replaced by classification algorithm when the scaling is smallness. The results showed that the hierarchical Bicubic interpolation algorithm can be able to meet the nominal frame rate, it can be applied on real-time video zooming.
