It is introduced the principles of MMW pulse modulation radar and MMW passive radiometer and a MMW active/passive detecting system is designed.The parameters of pulse modulation radar, such as the width, the pulse frequency and the ranging error, are discussed and analyzed. According to the principle of active detection, the hardware design based on DSP+FPGA is promoted. Firstly it introduces the system composition and development environment, and then illustrates the detailed analysis of the realization of each module, including PLL multiplier circuit module, counter module, distance calculating module, liquid crystal display control module and data collection module controlling MAX197 sampling. In addition it gives the hardware implementation such as power circuit, JTAG interface and DSP program loading.The mathematical model of radiometer output signal is also discussed and analyzed, as well as the corresponding parameters. To improve the SNR of radiometer output signal, the wavelet analysis is introduced for the signal de-noising. Then the threshold method and the complex integration method are taken to extra the feature of radiometer output signal, such as pulse width, size and other parameters. Finally the system completes the task of target recognition using the clustering method to study the signal features.After completion the entire system design of hardware and software, experimental data is got through test, and analysis verifies the effectiveness of the design.
