The meteorological data have spatial, temporal and attributive characteristics and are typically spatial data. This research described in this thesis presents the design goal and task for establishing a system of meteorological data processing and information sharing base on the systematic investigation and requirement analyses, and introduces the overall design and solutions to the system. The system implementation is also presented in the thesis.The system presented in this paper is based on GIS technology, and is designed for the meteorological data processing and information sharing. It combines the GIS spatial data management, spatial analyses and meta-data technologies for the multi-data-sources and multi-data-set collections, quality control, data processing and information sharing. With the spatial analysis functions of GIS, the interpolation analyses of the meteorological elements and thematic maps are achieved.The thesis first describes the basic theory and technology of the meteorological data processing based on GIS technology in detail, outlines the system requirements and makes a general design based on the system requirements presented. Then the key technologies used in the system implementation are presented and analyzed.The main work is as follows:(1) The thesis analyses the meteorological data processing, basic application methods of these data and the prospect of the GIS technology in the weather industry application.(2) The general requirements of the system, source, collection, process and share of meteorological data are discussed in detail. Also, the content, function, development environment of the system are presented.(3) The visualization of meteorological data, spatial analysis of meteorological data elements, and the information share with thematic maps are achieved, using the technologies of spatial data management and analysis; the multi-source meteorological data management and collection also are implemented with the meta-data technologies.(4) The information share system of the meteorological data is implemented, which includes the functions: meteorological data collecting, processing, analyzing and visualization.The methods of the design and implementation of the software presented in the thesis are based on the operation processes of meteorological data processing and current application status, and they supply the references to the effective use and share of meteorological data, especially for the increasing amounts and kinds of meteorological data, more and more important spatial analyses.
