Tapped deeply into the achievements of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), which has developed over thousands of years, adapted practical information technologies, we design and implement an intelligent aid system for TCM upon predecessors'experiences in the paper. The system is developed under the environment of VC++ 6.0 and runs upon SQL 2000 database system. With the application of object oriented programming technique, the system possesses a fast and accurate query capacity. The application of graphical navigation facilitates both learning and operation of the system, and intelligent positioning necessarily improves its sufficiency, which means entering a keyword and striking the keyboard will complete the query process automatically. Also, with the user system, users could edit and search according to their specific requirements. The system greatly facilitates TCM practitioners, who only needs to click the mouse before entering the system, analyses according to specific patient's symptom dialectically, diagnosis and prescribes certain treatment or health-improving measures or suggestions correspondingly.TCM stresses experiences most. In case regional, climate, patients'physical condition, age and gender differences exist, different prescriptions and dosages will be prescribed to the same disease. The pharmaceutical principles are transmitted mostly through Word-of-mouth, and adopts mainly through personal practices. In the mean time, an experienced TCM practitioners should memorize plenty of names of traditional Chinese medicines, their synonyms, effectiveness and the don'ts of pairings etc., which is profound, obscure and hard to command. In this regard, the system would of great help to TCM practitioners.
