For the past few years, radar is meeting more and more serious existing crisis with the rapid development of the so called"Four Threats"(Anti-radiation Missile, Stealth Target Technology, Low Altitude/Super-low Altitude Attack and Comprehensive Electronic Jamming). In order to deal with the challenges of"Four Threats", all kinds of researches are going on quickly and orderly. Especially the Super-low Altitude Attack weapons and weak targets in strong clutter environments, such as cruise missile, tanks, and ships and so on, are threatening in modern warfare. So how to improve the performance of radar to detect the weak target in strong clutter environments becomes a very important and severe mission. In face of the effects of all kinds of complicated strong land clutter, sea clutter and other clutter, the corresponding techniques should be studied to answer the challenge and improve radar performance of target detection and practicality. The dissertation sponsored by an important funds focuses on the weak target detection technique. Its main content comprises:1. Research background and meaning of weak target detection in strong clutter are introduced. The corresponding techniques and research trends at home and abroad are analyzed.2. The statistic models of targets and background clutter are studied. The basic theory of radar clutter suppression and target detection is introduced. The Detect-Before-Track algorithm and Track-Before-Detect algorithm are studied in detail. Then meanings of weak target and strong clutter are explained. The characteristic of weak target detection in strong clutter is analyzed.3. Clutter suppression methods are studied. First, several clutter suppression algorithms based on background estimation are introduced. The principle and characteristic of these methods are analyzed. Then, a clutter suppression method based on Fuller kernel is studied. Finally the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) technique is studied.4. The TBD algorithm based on Hough transform is studied in detail. The principle of Hough transform is introduced and the characteristics and drawback of standard Hough transform are analyzed. A TBD method based on KA-HT is proposed and another TBD method which is applied in 3D space data processing is studied. Simulation experiments are finished to validate these methods.
