How to evaluate the optical imaging systems is the question which we pay attention to .While Modulation Transfer Function is recognized as one of the most effective and objective methods to evaluate optical imaging systems. With the development of computer and photoconductive device, the technique of measure MTF is also in progress. Based on the background, a new method of analysis image to measure the MTF is thought by our group. The main task are given as follows:First of all, the development history, the application and testing technique of MTF are reviewed briefly. The direction of MTF development is pointed out. Then, the research background and the importance of the dissertation are explained. .And then, theoretical study related to the MTF testing is introduced, such as specifying the physics concept of MTF, summarizing the testing methods of MTF and analyzing the testing principle. On the base of introducing the theory which are related, the framework of system has been established. The devices which are used in the experiment are also introduced. Finally, testing software has been developed based on VC++. How to manipulate the testing system is introduced and the factors which affect the result are pointed out. The experiment is carried out to measure the optical lens sample in the axis, and the result is given. At last, the whole work is summarized and some problems that remains to be solved are pointed out. At the same time, the factors that cause the error are also explained.Simply structured, convenient, the system well fits the practical need of MTF measurement of the optical imaging system and can be applied into practical application.
