Based On The Arm9 Platform Portable Media Player Design And Development

Embedded system is a special-purpose computer system designed to perform one or a few dedicated functions.It has customized hardware and software to meed specific functions.It requires reducing the size,power dissipation and cost of the product,and increasing the reliability and performance. With the development of compter science and technology,embedded system is becoming an important part of computers.The indusrty has developed a wide range of embedded operation systems,such as WinCE,NT Embedded,Linux, PalmOS,uC/OS-Ⅱ,VxWorks,etc..Because of the small size,multi-fuction,low price,portable media players are becoming more and more popular and have an important place in the electronic products.Tranditional design of PMP was used DSP with MCU for the core.It has some drawbacks.It couldn't support more video formats with the decoder core.Its screen is too small.It could't give more features for the people. Its keys were inconvenient to use.Its operation system is poor.Speed of transmission is low.It's hard to update.Engineer used long development time with the inconvenient development envirconment.This thesis compared the features of the ARM processor,used the ARM922T as the platform to design portable media player.This thesis introduced the system,the function modules,the development of hardware and software.The system used software to decode video format and can support more formats with updating library.It supports high resolution LCD screen.It adds new functions for PMP,such as video recording,camera,digital albums,radio, e-books,games etc..It supports MMC/SD card,touch panel,and an effective method of system update.This thesis described the development process of the embedded system and gave a complete design method in the portable media player.
