System Based On Embedded Linux Ip-stb Design And Realization

The IPTV is a new technology,which uses the monitor or computer as the display device and is intergrated of internet, multimedia and communication,to offer many multimedia service including digital TV. It takes the IPTV STB as terminal, TV as display equipment and internet as main transmission network to provide multi-media information service.In this paper, the author compared many popular solutions for designing IPTV STB. At last, BCM7452 processor is be chosed to be the core chip of the project. Its high-performance CPU chip with integrated hardware media decoders can complete system control and audio and video codecs. Test and experiment results show that: the IPTV STB can boot the Linux kernel through BootLoader, loading Linux device driver and offer the control interface to the abstract application.This kind of IPTV STB has the advantages of system running stability, functional strongly-scalability and so on, which can be satisfied by the Sichuan Telecommunication, and is well to achieve the goal. With the popularization of the internet and digital TV, IPTV market will become more and more broad, IPTV set-top box will be widely used with further mprove its functions and development.
