Skype has become one of the hottest issues in P2P technology application, which has attracted the attention both of industry and academe. Since the Skype is a confidential protocol and Skype network is a large scale and high dynamic system, it is difficult to implement relevant studies by deploying it in the real network environment. So, a powerful P2P simulator plays an increasing important role in studying the Skype application. Based on this purpose, the study of Skype protocol simulation technology and relevant applied research is launched in this paper. At first, the related work of P2P simulation and the analysis of Skype protocol are introduced. On this basis, the Skype protocol simulation system–DSPSS (Distributed Skype Protocol Simulation System) is designed and implemented, using the P2P network simulation platform–DEDPS(Distributed Skype Protocol Simulation System) as a supporting platform, which is developed in UESTC.Because Skype protocol is confidential, the simulation system DSPSS is constructed by the method of protocol modeling, on the basis of the present protocol analysis results. The simulation system satisfies the large-scale and high dynamics requirements. DSPSS is also consistent with the present characteristics of the protocol (node scale changing situation, the super node features and the connecting number of super node, etc.). So, DSPSS is considered as a high fidelity simulation.A load balance strategy PPLBS (Based on the Push-Pull combination of Load Balance Strategy) is brought into the design of DSPSS. In this strategy, super nodes use push mode and ordinary nodes use pull mode to balance the network load. All nodes are involved in the network load balance mission, which is conducive to the balance mission more effectively distributed and implemented. This strategy also solves the problem of secondary overloading if only part of the nodes accomplish the work. In the sequent simulation test, PPLBS strategy performs well. For fitting the system demanding, a module scheduling strategy DLSS (Dynamic Linear Scheduling Strategy) is advanced in system designing. In this scheduling strategy, through the parameters configuration, simulation modules are flexible scheduled. And then, DSPSS dynamically changes the simulation environment including the properties of simulation nodes. DLSS strategy makes the system catching the strong dynamic simulation requirement.Because Skype is used more and more, it is significant to carry out the research of Skype protocol simulation technology. Through the DSPSS, research experiments of Skype can be easily made in the simulation environment. Then, characteristic data of Skype can be extracted to support the effective control of Skype.
