Location based service is a value-added business that provided by mobile communicate network. It collects the location information using a set of locate technology, and supplies them to the mobile terminate users or the communicate system, in order to accomplish varies of businesses that related to location. LBS combines database technology, geographic information system, mobile locating technology, Internet technology and wireless communicating technology. As it has a bright perspective for future applications, numbers of countries and companies believe that it will bring large raise of economy.This paper discussed the design of mobile pedestrian navigation service, a main kind of service of LBS. Here the phrase "mobile pedestrian navigation service" means a service, which base on the business mobile communicating network, using smart phone or PDA as its terminal, and provided by mobile communicating companies.In this paper, a mobile pedestrian navigation system was designed, aiming at the characteristic of mobile communicating network application, which use the smart cell phone as the main user terminal, and fit for the mobile communicating environment. Our target is, under the precondition of reasonable performance and response rapidity, provide a fitful service for the user. The main work is as below:1 Route Searching: instead of use the Dijkstra arithmetic simply, in this part, we introduce multiple attribute weight setting, adjusting the weight of way section, in order to making the route planning not only considering the distance factor, but also the purpose of the travel and the interest of the user.2 Presentation Planning: this part includes two sub-parts: media independent part and media dependent part. Media independent part is used to create a presentation of the route in a fitful way, considered the user's purpose and interest, while the media dependent makes the result fit for the terminal of the user.3 Related Information Search: allow the user to get the additional related information through this system.Finally, a prototype system was built, using 3 groups instance, to improve the characteristic of the system.
