The load of high repetition frequency pulse generator is commonly inductive cell, diode electron gun and so on. These elements are nonlinear, so it is difficult to match the pulse generator, and so reflection pulse will come into being ineluctability. To transit time isolate the reflection pulse, low loss and small distortion high voltage pulse delay-line has studied, which is water pulse delay-line. Numerical simulation and experiment have indicated that pulse amplitude attenuation main reasons are skin-effect loss and water dielectric loss, and pulse shape distortion main factors are skin-effect loss and delay-line impedance nonuniformity.The paper introduces the basic theory of delay-line, and analyzes the main factors of pulse amplitude attenuation and pulse shape distortion, and analyzes pulsed electric strength of delay-line. According to application and experiment requirement, a suit of 12 ohm and a suit of 24 ohm water pulse delay-line have been designed. The 12 ohm delay-line design electric length is 200 nanoseconds to 500 nanoseconds. The 24 ohm delay-line design electric length is 300 nanoseconds, and its design work voltage is more than 200 kilovolt. Amplitude attenuation of the pulse has theoretically analyzed which is transmitted by them. Two experiment equipments have been built. Low voltage pulse transmission experiment and high voltage pulse transmission experiment have been completed using them. Low voltage experiment realizes the magnitude of skin-effect loss and pulse shape distorted degree. High voltage experiment makes know the pulsed electric strength of delay-line and some questions of delay-line work voltage design.A delay-line loss numerical simulation program has compiled, which mainly numerically evaluates telegraph equation. The transmission process of the pulse which is transmitted by delay-line has been simulated using the program. Simulation realizes the magnitude of skin-effect loss and water dielectric loss, and makes know fall time loss which has been brought by them. Insulated support effect has been simulated by PSpice Program. Simulation indicates that pulse amplitude attenuation is very small, and the effect mainly brings pulse platform wave. The effect of right angled curve transmission line has been simulated by Magic program, and the simulation indicates the effect is very small.In the end, the characteristic of propylene carbonate has been introduced. A primary experiment has completed, which realizes the feasibility of propylene carbonate as the transmission dielectric of delay-line.
