Image Information Hiding Technology

Information concealment is an interdisciplinary subject of the combination of mathematics, cryptography, information theory and computer application technique. With the rapid development and great popularity of modern communication technology, especially with the wide application of Internet, the combination of communication technology and computer technology, information share, transmission become more frequent and wide. It has brought us great convenience and a great number of information security problems as well. Such as information theft, copyright protection of multimedia data and image authentication. But as the traditional way of security protection, cryptography can't resolve these problems really. Then the information concealment was proposed. It had been proved in practice that information concealment was the effective means to resolve those problems in information security. So information concealment becomes a research hot-spot in recent years.The information concealment technology points out a new direction for the study of information security. The following paper describes the characteristics of the information concealment technology and the general principles of the information concealment transmission through images. It devises a system of information concealment technology based on the equal distribution of different colors for image concealment to meet the needs of the engineering and the particular consumers. The system based on Windows can conceal TXT files into the BMP images from which we can get back the original information after the transmission on the Internet or carried. Its concealment efficiency reaches about 1/8, therefore it solves the problem of transmitting a great deal of information.
