With the development of digital image processing technology, image processing systems have been widely used in daily life, industry, military, health care and many other fields.This thesis is focused on the design of video image processing system and the research of image enhancement algorithm. The results of these researches include:1. Three enhancement algorithms are simulated in MATLAB, such as gray image enhancement algorithm based on the Laplace operator, color image enhancement using spatially adaptive saturation feedback and its improvement methods. Numerical results are given.2. The hardware implementation of video image processing system is finished. FPGA is the core of video image processing system which has strong ability to process real-time images. The video image processing system has one input video port, one output video port, PCI interface and two UART interface.3. Design of the schematic and PCB layout of video image processing system is accomplished. Some design rules on signal integrity are successfully applied in PCB layout, for achieving the high-speed performance of hardware circuit.
